Seed Sowing Guide
Make some small holes on the seedling soil and put in 1 to 2 seed for each hole and then covered with a thin layer of soil. Watering twice a day until after germination (8 to 12 days).
When the seedling grow 3 to 4 true leaves, may thin out excess seedlings (remove weak seedlings) or transplant, keep the strongest seedling for each hole. Leave 30cm gap for each plant, build trellis to support it.
Topdressed with Baba 532 organic foliage fertilizer weekly, when the plants grow bigger, use Baba 426 organic fruiting fertilizer. Put the fertilizer away from plant with 10 to 15cm gap, cover with soil. Watering after fertilization.
Ready to be harvested when the fruit become plump.
Growing Tips:
After blooming, can manually pollinate in the morning.
Thin leaves to make sure ventilation of plants, to avoid mealybug attack.
Planting Advice:
Step 1: Find some trays or pots
You can sow seeds in a proper seed tray or use a container tin, fruit tray, flower pot or similar.
Step 2: Fill the container with seedling compost
It’s best to buy seedling compost to increase the chances of germination if only a small number of seeds are supplied in a packet.
Step 3: Moisten the surface of the compost
Moisten the surface of the seedling compost with a mist spray and ensure it’s wet.
Step 4: Put the seeds evenly over the compost
Put the seeds over the compost using your finger. Don’t cover small seeds and let it be.
Step 5: Cover the container
Cover the seed tray with black net or cardboard to prevent the compost drying out. This also keep the seeds in dark, which aids germination. Put under roof or indoor to help higher germination rates.
Step 6: Uncover the seedlings once they germinate
It’s important to uncover the seedlings and expose them to light once they germinate, otherwise they will rapidly become straggly.
Step 7: Transplant the seedlings
Once the seedlings have a few pairs of “true leaves” or about 2 – 3 inches tall, they will have to be transplanted into individual pots or planter or even ground for better growth.
Step 8: Grow them
Pamper the plants with right amount of water and sunlight. With proper care, the plants will be ready in no time.
